Morning Meals Initiative
Hot breakfasts delivered before school to children who arrive hungry. Partnering with 24 elementary schools across the region to ensure no child starts the day on an empty stomach.
Childhood hunger has a solution
Brighter Days Foundation runs community meal programs, family pantries, and nutrition education across the region - because no child should go to school hungry, come home hungry, or spend a weekend wondering where the next meal comes from.

Our mission
Brighter Days was founded in 2009 by a group of parents and teachers who saw the same children fall asleep in class - not from boredom, but because they had not eaten since lunch the day before. What started as a Friday snack bag program has grown into six interconnected programs reaching more than 14,000 children.
We work at the intersection of emergency relief and lasting change - putting food in front of children today while building the community infrastructure that makes food insecurity rarer tomorrow.
See all six programsEvery program is designed so children and families feel respected, not reduced to a statistic or a charity case.
We publish our financials, program outcomes, and overhead ratios every year because donors deserve to know exactly where their dollar goes.
Our programs are designed with - not for - the neighborhoods we serve. Residents sit on our program advisory board and shape every decision.
Six programs, one purpose
From the first breakfast to the Friday backpack, our programs meet children and families where they are - at school, in the neighborhood, and at home.
Hot breakfasts delivered before school to children who arrive hungry. Partnering with 24 elementary schools across the region to ensure no child starts the day on an empty stomach.
Afternoon snacks and light suppers at 14 community centers and libraries, keeping children fed and focused for homework and activities until families reunite in the evening.
When school ends, hunger does not. Our summer sites provide daily lunches and nutrition education to children in low-income neighborhoods throughout July and August.
Monthly food boxes for families navigating hardship, stocked with fresh produce, proteins, and pantry staples sourced from local farms and food recovery partnerships.
Hands-on cooking classes and garden programs for children and caregivers - building skills and confidence around healthy eating that extend well beyond the meal we provide.
Discreet Friday packs sent home with children at risk of going two days without a meal. Nutritionist-designed, kid-friendly, and quietly delivered in backpacks to protect dignity.
